S.O.S - Save Our Souls

This is my first feature film, and a project I have been part of since its earliest beginnings. Jonas Steinacker, with whom I made Nelly's Story, pitched me the idea shortly after we finished that film.

The theme of this projects hits close to home for me. The consequences of the climate crisis will have profound effects on our generation, and that weight is present in how I approach this project.

We already started developing a visual language on a research trip we took in 2024. Jonas, co-author Moritz Licht and I spent two weeks on a working containership in the Atlantic, where much of the script was written. The ocean, the vastness, the infinite shades of blue, the rolling horizon and the lives of the crew are what inspired an approach rooted in poetic, composed imagery that is driven by the location itself.

The film will be shot in fall 2026 on a working containership with a minimal crew, in a German-French co-production. It was part of the Venice Co-Production Market at the Biennale in 2025.
